Here's a short clip of racing at the Eastern Michigan Speedway on Clear Lake Rd in Goodland Twp, near Imlay City. This was filmed in 1965. My dad and Uncle occasionally raced there. In this 3 minute reel we put the starts of 3 seperate races to show how diverse the type of tracks this ASA SERIES raced on. From 1/7 mile flat polished concrete indoor arena tracks to the 2 mile monstrosity Michigan Speedway. (I didn't include Michigan honestly because NASCAR MADE racing on tracks over a mile a thing. In my opinion the only time a race track should exceed a mile is when its a road course. NASCAR made it a thing for there 3 elite divisions with the drafting, but all other divisi

Thoughts on the Islip Speedway Track Truck❔ Islip Speedway was a .2-mile oval race track in Islip, New York which was open from 1947 until 1984. It is the smallest track to host NASCAR’s Grand National Series, from 1964 to 1971. The first demolition derby took place at Islip Speedway in 1958. The idea was patented by Larry Mendelsohn, who worked at Islip Speedway. The speedway has since been demolished. Luckily we have a part of its history now!
