LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The Los Angeles City Council is considering whether to support a bill that would ban surveillance drones. The bill was introduced after the Department of Homeland Security deployed a drone over the city during recent protests against immigration raids. Rep. Jimmy Gomez, D-Los Angeles, introduced the legislation.
A number of journalists covering the protests against the recent immigrations sweeps have been shot with rubber bullets and hit with police batons.
Advocacy groups recently led a 24-hour “community stoppage” in support of immigrants who have been detained by ICE.
