AHMEDABAD (IANS) – An Air India flight bound for London’s Gatwick Airport, carrying 242 passengers and crew, crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad airport this afternoon. The aircraft, which departed at 1:38 p.m. from Runway 23, came down in the Meghani Nagar area, triggering panic among residents.
London Gatwick Airport has appointed Pierre-Hugues Schmit as its new CEO after current chief executive Stewart Wingate is set to become managing director of UK airports, a newly-created role by airport operator VINCI and investment group Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP).
