Ortiz said that it would be the next coming of himself and Manny Ramirez in the middle of the lineup if the Red Sox did manage to land Soto and pair him with third baseman Rafael Devers.

Ortiz, who is a Red Sox legend, has mentored Soto for years, as both players hail from the Dominican Republic. Soto grew up watching Ortiz, Pedro Martinez and Manny Ramirez.
