The Philadelphia Phillies are facing a major bullpen crisis after closer Jose Alvarado received an 80-game suspension. Alvarado was caught for violating the league’s PED policy. Philadelphia will need to make a move since their reliever will not be eligible to play in the postseason.

The Phillies, in need of bullpen help, kicked the tires on the 40-year-old veteran right-hander, per a report.

Alvarado, soon to turn 30, had pitched to a 2.70 ERA (159 ERA+) and a 6.25 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 20 appearances. He had saved seven games, including in his most recent appearance against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday. For his career, he's in possession of a 123 ERA+.
