The Cowboys owner is leading a coaching search once again, with one of the best players in franchise history reportedly in the mix.

As many people have anticipated for months, Mike McCarthy has left the Dallas Cowboys as their head coach following the expiration of his contract. Many feel it has presented the Cowboys with an opportunity to reinvigorate their team with a new head coach.

Cowboys owner and General Manager Jerry Jones says that he and former coach Mike McCarthy mutually agreed that the team needed a new coach in 2025, and McCarthy needed a new job in 2025. Jones released a statement saying that he and McCarthy — whose contract was set to expire tomorrow — have been talking since the end of the season and ultimately agreed he wouldn't be back.
