Obama, Trump said, had “tried to steal the election” from him in 2016. “Look, he’s guilty. It’s not a question. . . . This was treason, this was every word you can think of.” 1
There is a precedent for a sitting president to run for a third term, although no one’s done it since the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, which states that “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice,” was ratified in 1951.
