The Ministry of Civil Aviation on Saturday provided fresh details on the deadly Air India crash that occurred on June 12 in Ahmedabad, killing at least 260 people, including passengers and people on the ground.

Air India Flight 171 was “involved in a tragic accident,” the airline’s chairman said. The plane was due to fly from Ahmedabad to London’s Gatwick Airport.

A London-bound Air India Boeing 787 crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, killing 241 people. The aircraft went down near the Ghoda Camp area, triggering a massive fire and panic in the residential locality.
