The White House says the president cut short his visit because of "what's going on in the Middle East".

"We affirm that Israel has a right to defend itself. We reiterate our support for the security of Israel," G7 leaders said in a statement.

Donald Trump abruptly left Canada and cut his trip to the G7 summit short on Monday, as the conflict between Israel and Iran continues to escalate.
