WILMINGTON, N.C. ( WECT /Gray News) - A tree service worker died after falling from a tree in Wilmington on Friday. The Wilmington Police Department (WPD) said police, firefighters and emergency medical services responded to a report of someone who had fallen from a tree at 8 a.m. The worker was found dead at the scene.

A Bessemer man was killed while removing a tree at a Vestavia Hills home. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Aaron Ligon McGarity. He was 36. Authorities said McGarity was an employee of a company hired to remove a tree from a residential home in the 2800 block of Westwyck Circle in Vestavia Hills.
