Eight Venezuelan gang members have been indicted in connection with sex trafficking women from South America to Tennessee, the U.S. Department of Justice said.

The U.S. Attorney's Office and law enforcement agencies in Tennessee announced the indictment of multiple people in the state with ties to the violent Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.

The defendants are accused of luring dozens of victims from Venezuela and other countries to the U.S. on the “promise of a better life."
