When President Donald Trump chose Pete Hegseth for Defense secretary, incoming officials knew they’d need to surround the inexperienced Fox News host with accomplished staff who could handle the nation’s largest bureaucracy.

The defense secretary’s inner circle is in disarray, and distrust is growing among civil servants and senior military officials.

Kilmeade pointed out Tuesday that many of the employees let go from the Pentagon were people that Hegseth brought on as close allies and were shown the door without even being asked to show the contents of their phones, something you’d expect in any leak investigation.
