San Diego has several events to celebrate Juneteenth, which commemorates the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Texas learned they had been freed — two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

Americans will be celebrating Juneteenth, the federal holiday marking the day when the last enslaved people in the U.S. were freed.
