After the credible threat at the Texas Capitol this weekend and the assassinations of a Minnesota state lawmaker and her husband, Gov. Abbott said those things can never be allowed to happen in Texas.

The evacuation came after an individual contacted local authorities about a man heading to Austin's No Kings protest to harm lawmakers.

DPS has not released the name of the man, who it said was arrested on a misdemeanor traffic charge Saturday afternoon and taken in for questioning. A gun in the man's possession was seized, DPS said in a Monday afternoon news release.
