Anthony Volpe entered Thursday's game with one hit in his last 11 games, but broke out with two hits against the White Sox in what the team hopes he can build off of.

After back-to-back games on the bench that the Yankees hoped would give the 24-year-old shortstop a mental reset, Volpe went 0-for-4 against the Washington Nationals and All-Star starter Mackenzie Gore. Even in a 5-1 Yankees win, Volpe's rough night stood out as a storyline.

It was the third time this season the Yankees had six players hit home runs in a single game — the most in MLB history.
